Volume One
Synopsis of Roswell 1947 Vol. 1
Roswell 1947 Volume One is a fictional play based very loosely on some of the events that were alleged to have taken place in July of 1947 in Roswell, New Mexico. All the acts and scenes in the story are the product of the author's own imagination.
The plot of the story begins with a local rancher from Roswell, New Mexico claiming that he found pieces of a crashed flying saucer on his ranch. Around the same time that this is taking place an archeology professor and his students are out on a field trip in the desert near Corona, New Mexico. The professor and his students find a crashed spaceship as well as the bodies of three dead aliens and one surviving alien. The Air Force learns about the incident and sends out a high ranking general to investigate the incident. Meanwhile the rancher tries to tell his story at the local radio station. He is arrested by the general in the middle of his radio interview. The surviving alien is taken to The Roswell Hospital by the general. The rest of the play deals with the actions that take place as a result of theses events.
This play is a hybrid of science fiction and comedy. The story has some unforgettable characters and some intriguing subplots. This play was written with the goal of taking its readers out of their present realities and giving them a good laugh at the same time.
The author indicates in the author's preface that there will likely be some readers who will find parts of this play to be offensive for different reasons. For this reason Ken David Stewart has written a disclaimer that indicates that the events in his play and the characters that he has created are all fictional in nature. Where Mr. Stewart uses the names of characters from a television show their characterizations are all fictional and are not meant to have any connection in words or deeds to the original actors on the television program.
